Notice Period Calculator

This calculator turns your resignation date and notice period into an exact last working day (LWD), then estimates what a notice buyout would cost if you need to leave earlier. Pick a notice period of 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days — the ranges most Indian offer letters use — and it adds that many calendar days to your resignation date, not working days, since that's how almost every Indian employer counts notice.

Why the calendar-day distinction matters: a 60-day notice starting on a Friday still ends 60 days later even though weekends and holidays fall inside that window. A lot of people assume notice only runs on working days and end up with the wrong LWD on their relieving letter, which then throws off background verification and the joining date they've promised a new employer.

If you enter your monthly gross salary, the tool works out a per-day rate (monthly ÷ 30 — the flat divisor most Indian payroll systems use regardless of how many days are actually in that month) and multiplies it by your notice days to estimate a full buyout. Add a desired last working day and it'll also tell you exactly how many days short of notice that is, plus what buying out just those days would cost.

Treat the buyout figure as a starting point for a conversation, not a guarantee. Some companies calculate it on basic salary rather than gross, and leaving before your notice period ends always needs your employer's written approval, buyout policy or not — check your offer letter and HR handbook before you rely on the exact number.
