Resignation letter

[Date]

Dear Anil Kumar,

I am writing to formally resign from my position as Senior Software Engineer at Infosys. As per my notice period of 30 days, my last working day will be [last working day]. I have accepted an opportunity that aligns closely with my long-term career goals, and this was not an easy decision to make.

During the notice period, I will do everything I can to ensure a complete and smooth handover of my responsibilities. Please let me know how you would like me to plan the transition, and kindly confirm my last working day and the relieving formalities in writing.

Thank you for the support during my tenure. I wish Infosys and the team continued success.

Sincerely,
Priya Sharma
Senior Software Engineer

Tip: hand your resignation over in person if you can, or email it to HR and your manager together — and always get your last-working-day confirmation in writing.

About this tool

Fill in your name, designation, company, manager's name and a few choices, and this tool drafts a complete, ready-to-send resignation letter and email subject line — full sentences that change based on what you pick, not just a template with blanks filled in.

Notice period affects more than your last working day. Choosing 'Immediate (no notice)' rewrites the opening paragraph to explicitly acknowledge you're falling short of the standard notice and request that it be waived, and it changes the handover paragraph to focus on documentation and staying reachable, since there's no time for a normal transition. Choosing a fixed notice period (15, 30, 60 or 90 days) instead states your notice plainly and points to a standard handover process during that time.

The reason for leaving — better opportunity, personal reasons, higher studies, health reasons, relocation, or none — adds one honest, non-oversharing sentence to your opening paragraph. You're not obliged to explain yourself in a resignation letter, so 'Prefer not to say' leaves that sentence out entirely. Tone works the same way: 'Grateful' adds an extra paragraph thanking the company for what you learned and closes more warmly, while 'Formal' keeps things brief and professional.

Every field falls back to sensible placeholder text — for example, 'Sir/Madam' if you skip the manager's name — so the letter reads cleanly even half-filled in, and both the subject line and the full letter have one-click copy buttons for pasting straight into an email.

Frequently asked questions

The letter only requests an exception — approving reduced or no notice is entirely up to your employer, and many companies will still expect you to serve notice or forfeit pay in lieu of it. Use the 'Immediate' option to make the request formally and politely, not as a guarantee it'll be accepted.
