The CGPA conversion is the one most people land on first. Indian universities report results as CGPA out of 10, but many job application forms, some ATS systems, and several foreign university applications still ask for a percentage. This tool applies the CBSE convention — percentage = CGPA × 9.5 — the formula most people mean by 'convert CGPA to percentage.' It's genuinely just a convention, though: many universities, especially state boards and autonomous institutions, use their own multiplier or calculate percentage directly from raw marks instead. Check your official transcript or your university's examination handbook before using this number anywhere official, like a government job application.

The marks-obtained-over-total mode is the more literal calculation — no assumptions, just (marks ÷ total) × 100 — useful if your mark sheet gives you raw scores rather than a CGPA. The percentage change mode is handy outside academics too: quantifying a salary hike, a revenue or metric improvement for a resume bullet, or how much a number moved between two reporting periods.
