What the interviewer probes in a data analyst interview

Analyst interviews test whether you can turn a number into a decision and say so clearly. The AI interviewer asks you to walk through an analysis you ran, explain how you chose a metric, and handle the "the business didn’t agree with your finding" question — scoring structure and relevance, because rambling through a dashboard is the most common failure.

Rehearse the narrative rounds here: the case walkthrough, the ambiguity question ("the data was incomplete — what did you do?"), and the stakeholder story. SQL and Excel tests happen on a screen; the spoken explanation of what you did with them is what this coach is for.

Rehearse these out loud

  1. 1One analysis from question to recommendation in two minutes, with the number that changed a decision.
  2. 2How you would define and defend a single KPI for a product or team you name.
  3. 3A time the data disagreed with a stakeholder — what you checked, how you said it.
  4. 4Explain a JOIN or a window function in plain words, as if to a non-technical manager.

Questions like these, by round

One from each round of the Data Analyst question bank — the coach asks its own, built from your resume.

  • HR & Screening Round

Tell me about yourself and the kind of data work you have done.

  • Behavioral Round

Tell me about a time your analysis directly changed a business decision.

  • Technical / Role Round

Write a SQL query to find the top 3 products by revenue in each category. Explain WHERE vs HAVING while you are at it.

  • Managerial & Final Round

Walk me through one analysis end to end — from the business question to the final recommendation.

How a mock interview session runs

Your resume sets the questions, your answers set the score, and the report tells you what to fix while it’s still practice.

01

Pick a resume

The interviewer reads it, so the questions name your projects, your companies, your stack — the things a real interviewer would probe after reading your CV.

02

Set the role and difficulty

Add a target role or paste the job description, then choose how tough the interviewer plays: beginner, intermediate, advanced, or executive.

03

Check your mic and join

A quick device check, then you join like a real call. The mic is required; the camera is optional and your video never leaves your device.

04

Answer out loud

10 spoken questions in roughly 12 minutes. Stop talking and it moves on by itself — and your scorecard is ready the moment you hang up.

What your interview scorecard tells you

A single number can’t tell you what to change. Every answer in the session gets its own breakdown.

Four scores per answer

Content, structure, relevance and delivery, each 0–100 — so you know whether the problem is what you said or how you said it.

Pace and filler words

Words per minute and a count of the ums, likes and you-knows — the delivery habits nobody ever tells you about.

A verbatim transcript

Exactly what the interviewer heard, word for word. Reading your own answer back is half the coaching.

What worked, what to fix

Specific strengths and concrete improvements for every answer — not a grade, a to-do list.

A model answer to compare

Every question ships with an expandable model answer, so you can see the gap rather than guess at it.

Drill your weakest answer

One click sends your lowest-scoring answer into practice mode, where you can retry it until it lands.

Try the real thing free — then rehearse daily with Pro

Every free account gets one full 10-question mock interview and 3 practice sessions — enough to hear yourself answer and see the scorecard. A Pro pass makes it a daily rehearsal — sold as a one-time pass from $7 (₹199 in India), never a subscription, with no auto-renewal to remember to cancel.

Data Analyst interview practice — questions

It asks you to explain SQL logic and analytical choices aloud, not to write queries. Pair it with a hands-on SQL practice site; use this for the explanation and stakeholder rounds that decide most analyst offers.
