Resignation Letter for Going Abroad

Moving abroad puts a hard deadline on the notice period and makes the paperwork urgent: relieving letter, experience letter, final settlement, PF withdrawal or transfer, and tax forms are all easier to collect while you are still in the country.

Give the departure date and ask for the documents by name.

Subject: Resignation — Tanvi Kulkarni, HR Executive

[Date]

Dear Mr. Joshi,

I am writing to formally resign from my position as HR Executive at Horizon Tech, as I will be relocating to Canada on 20 October 2026 on a permanent residence visa. As per my notice period of 30 days, my last working day will be Friday, 9 October 2026.

I am relocating to another country, which unfortunately makes it difficult for me to continue in my current role. I would be grateful if my relieving letter, experience letter and full-and-final settlement could be completed before my last day, as I will need them for employment abroad. I will hand over the onboarding calendar and the open requisitions to the HR manager before I go.

During the notice period I will ensure a complete handover of my responsibilities and will document all ongoing work. Please let me know how you would like the transition planned, and kindly confirm my last working day and the relieving formalities in writing.

Thank you for the support during my tenure. I wish the company and the team continued success.

Sincerely,
Tanvi Kulkarni
HR Executive

Names, companies and dates are illustrative. Replace the bracketed date with the day you send it.

What to get right

  • List the documents: relieving letter, experience letter, settlement statement, Form 16, PF details.
  • Get an international-format experience letter (company letterhead, dates, designation, duties) — foreign employers and immigration officers ask for it.
  • Update your resume to the destination country’s format before you land; formats differ more than people expect.

Generate yours — pre-filled for this situation

Notice period, reason and tone are set to match the example above. Change anything; the last working day recalculates.
