Resignation Letter With One Month Notice
Thirty days is the default notice period in most Indian offer letters and in many roles worldwide. The letter needs the exact last working day, counted in calendar days from the day you resign — weekends and holidays included.
Most disputes over notice come from the date, not the wording. Write it as a full date and ask HR to confirm it in writing.

Subject: Resignation — Priya Sharma, Senior Software Engineer
[Date] Dear Anil, I am writing to formally resign from my position as Senior Software Engineer at Infosys. As per my notice period of 30 days, my last working day will be Friday, 16 October 2026. I have accepted an opportunity that aligns closely with my long-term goals, and I did not make this decision lightly. The four years on the payments platform team have shaped how I work, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me. I will do everything I can to make the transition smooth — documenting my work, briefing whoever takes over, and remaining reachable for questions. Please confirm my last working day and the relieving formalities in writing at your convenience. Thank you for everything I have learnt here. I wish you and the team every success, and I hope our paths cross again. With sincere gratitude, Priya Sharma Senior Software Engineer
Names, companies and dates are illustrative. Replace the bracketed date with the day you send it.
What to get right
- Calendar days, not working days — a 30-day notice served from a Friday still ends 30 days later.
- Use the notice period calculator to get the date right before you write it down.
- Mention the specific project or team once; it makes the thanks read as sincere rather than templated.
- Ask for the relieving letter and full-and-final settlement timeline in the same email thread.

Notice period, reason and tone are set to match the example above. Change anything; the last working day recalculates.
